Joe Root at the crease: bat, gloves and a moving ball

Joe Root stays close to the stumps as the ball travels along the pitch, bat held across his body.

Joe Root is shown at the crease as the ball travels along the pitch. In the closer view, he moves in front of the stumps with the bat across his body, while the wicketkeeper behind him is set to react.

The detail is in the adjustment: Root keeps the bat close as the ball comes through, rather than making a large, sweeping movement. The sequence offers a brief look at the compact work around the crease, with the stumps just behind him and the wicketkeeper within reach.
