Editorial Standards and AI Use
Evidence before publication. Uncertainty in plain sight.
SportLocation uses an automated editorial workflow, but automation is not permission to publish generic or unsupported material. Every web story must be grounded in its own video and pass both evidence checks and a separate quality critique.
Last reviewed 5 August 2026How a candidate is analysed
The system samples frames across the full clip, adds frames around major scene changes and transcribes the complete audio track when speech or useful sound is present. It records timestamped observations about visible action, equipment, setting and other concrete details.
Sport and action classifications use channel-specific labels. A Formula 1 clip cannot be described through a golf template, and a generic label such as ‘swing’ is not accepted across unrelated sports.
- At least three distinct timestamped observations are required.
- Sport and visible-action confidence must clear published minimums.
- An athlete is named only when the available context supports that identification.
- A failed candidate creates no public page, sitemap entry or advertising request.
Writing, sourcing and quality review
The article is generated from the evidence record rather than from an athlete name and a reusable template. Current factual claims require reliable sources, which are displayed beside the claims they support. When reliable context is unavailable, the story remains evergreen and limited to what the footage shows.
A separate automated critic checks sport accuracy, evidence use, unsupported claims, generic passages and similarity to recent SportLocation titles and articles. Deterministic checks then enforce the final threshold. There is no routine human review before publication, so every story also explains this method and provides a direct correction route.
What we will not claim
A short video may not show the result of a shot, the full exercise, the date, the venue or the identity of a person. Those limits belong in the article rather than being smoothed over. Every story contains a ‘What this clip cannot establish’ statement.
We do not manufacture quotations, diagnoses, private motives or results that occur outside the footage. We do not use source links as decoration: a source must directly support the associated claim.
Commercial independence and corrections
Advertising and affiliate eligibility are separate from editorial eligibility. A commercial opportunity cannot lift a weak candidate over the publication threshold. During the current quality review, affiliate modules and display advertising are disabled.
If you spot an error, email corrections@sportlocation.net or use the contact page. We assess the evidence, update material errors and keep a public record when a correction changes the substance of a story.
