Joe Root on the value of backing one another

Joe Root’s words about shared belief sit alongside glimpses of batting, teammates and a trophy presentation.

Joe Root’s point is about belief moving between teammates: “We’re all back each other’s ability and that just rubs up on everyone.” It is a short thought, but one rooted in the collective work of a cricket side rather than any single shot.

The montage sets that remark against an England player holding a trophy, a batter bent beside the crease and a brief view of players in position. Elsewhere, two helmeted England players embrace. The scenes offer different glimpses of the game, from preparation at the wicket to a moment shared between teammates.

Root’s emphasis is on backing one another’s ability. On the pitch, that trust has a practical edge: a batter settles beside the crease, with the stumps close by and the next delivery to face.
