Steve Smith, set and waiting at the crease

SportLocation Cricket Desk · 30 Sept 2026

Steve Smith holds his bat in front and watches the bowler approach, a compact set-up captured in a sequence of wide play and close-ups.

Steve Smith is already set when the bowler comes through: balanced at the crease, bat held in front, eyes on the delivery. The wide view gives the moment its shape—the pitch between them, the bowler moving into his stride and Smith waiting at the far end.

The footage then cuts close. Smith’s helmeted profile brings the focus back to the batter’s task: stay ready, watch the ball and keep the bat in position. It is a brief, clear look at the point before a delivery turns into a shot.
