George Russell: the fine margins of a Formula 1 corner

SportLocation Formula 1 Desk · 25 Sept 2026

A montage of close racing puts the emphasis on how a car is placed through a corner, with little room to spare.

George Russell’s Formula 1 montage keeps returning to the close detail of a car being threaded through a corner. In one shot, a Mercedes-liveried car approaches the turn with the kerb close by; elsewhere, cars run alongside one another on the circuit.

That proximity changes the calculation. Leave too much room and a rival can take the space; cut the line too tightly and the kerb becomes a risk. The footage offers glimpses rather than a single continuous sequence, but the recurring challenge is clear: keep the car on line while another is close enough to contest it.

The montage ends on a group embrace beside the track. On the circuit, the more exacting image is the Mercedes turning towards the kerb with its wheels close to the painted edge.
