Chris Bumstead: the control behind the pose
SportLocation Fitness Desk · 9 Oct 2026
A held flex and a change of stance put bodybuilding presentation in focus.
Chris Bumstead’s opening pose is built around a deliberate contrast: one arm raised, the other flexed, with his torso turned towards the light. The stance makes the shape of the physique the focus, but holding it clearly also depends on control.
The sequence moves to a front-facing pose, where the hands settle at the waist and the elbows open out. That change gives the physique a different outline and brings the legs into the presentation. In bodybuilding, a pose is not simply a moment of flexing; it is a way of showing the body to best effect from a particular angle.
A line heard in the clip says: “I don't focus on perfection, I focus on just being doing the best I can.” It sits alongside the footage as a plain statement of approach, while the stage poses show the precision demanded by the sport.
