Jay Cutler’s gym work moves from machines to the barbell

SportLocation Fitness Desk · 8 Oct 2026

Cutler moves through seated resistance-machine work before taking hold of a loaded barbell in the gym.

Jay Cutler’s gym sequence shifts from seated resistance-machine work to a standing barbell hold. The change of equipment gives the footage its shape: first, Cutler works from a supported position; later, he grips the bar with the plates loaded and holds it in front of his thighs.

The seated section keeps the movement close to the machine, with Cutler reclined and his knees raised in the tighter view. The later low-angle shot opens up the frame to show more of the gym and the weight on the bar. Cutler is standing with the barbell in front of his thighs—not underneath it.

That contrast, from machine work to the barbell, is the detail that carries the sequence. The final image keeps the loaded bar and Cutler’s standing grip in view.
