Scottie Scheffler’s second FedEx Cup title is more than another trophy: it has taken him to the top of the PGA Tour career money list.
Scottie Scheffler has added another major line to a season that already looked hard to top. The world number one claimed his second FedEx Cup title at the Tour Championship in Atlanta, and the win also moved him to the top of the PGA Tour career money list.
Scheffler started the final day three shots behind Viktor Hovland, but produced the sort of metronomic round that has become his trademark. His four-under 66 was the only score in the final three pairings to break par, and it was enough to turn a deficit into a comfortable finish.
The reward was a $10m cheque and a career earnings total of $130.4m, which takes him above Tiger Woods. He is now one of only three players to have won the FedEx Cup more than once, alongside Woods and Rory McIlroy.
Scheffler said coming from behind made the win especially satisfying, and his round underlined why. While others around him faltered, he kept finding greens and kept the pressure on the leaderboard.
It was also his 22nd career victory on the PGA Tour, another marker of how quickly he has turned consistency into history. The numbers are getting bigger, but the method remains the same: steady, precise and hard to shake.
For now, the headline is simple. Scheffler has the title, the money-list lead and another Sunday where the field could not quite keep up.
